Renata's Uncle Kurt's house outside Garberville, CA. (way up on the side of a Mtn. with no public power or water). (7/10) Hence the solar arrays, 2 wells and satellite phone. (7/10) Looking down hill from the house, wood for the stove and a friendly doe. (7/10)
Just realized the picts were a bit out of order as we traveled the Avenue of the Giants before getting to Garberville.

This was just a small one. A fallen giant on the forest floor
Looking up in to the canopy.  I recently read a book called "The Wild Trees" which was a fascinating story of the Redwoods and those who climb and study them. I learned there is a lot about a redwood you don't know unless you get up into the canopy.
There is currently a bill to widen the roads through parts of the groves here to allow larger cattle truck to get through. That would mean cutting some of -
These great trees.  Hopefully it will be defeated. Too many have been lost to the lumber companies and they can't be replaced in even several generations.
